Tips To Prepare Your Home for Overnight Guests

Can you believe that the holidays are just around the corner? Who knew this year could go so fast? The holidays usually mean that friends and family stay over. The following are tips to prepare your home for overnight guests.

Offer Extra Bedding and Pillows

You’re used to the temperature of your home while you sleep. But your guests may wake up in the middle of the night feeling chilly. Prevent them from having to wake you or suffer by putting some extra pillows and blankets in the guest room closet for easy access. You can also keep an extra throw blanket at the bottom of the bed if you please.

Prepare Food and Drinks

Ask your guests ahead of time for any particular snacks they’re fond of eating or drinks they enjoy. Be sure to stock up on tea, coffee, water, and milk. You want your guests to be happy and full, not hangry.

Depending on how long your guests are staying, you may want to meal prep and plan to avoid taking time to cook every day. Then, you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time having fun together.

Gather Bathroom Necessities

Stock your bathroom up with toilet paper and other essentials in case your guests forget anything. Grab an empty basket and fill it with travel-sized toothpaste, shampoo, and lotion for them to use as needed.

You may follow certain tricks to keep your bathroom looking spotless, but you should still give it a good cleaning before your guests arrive. Make sure there’s a plunger somewhere in the bathroom in case of accidents.

Leave Space for Unpacking

If you have a spare room where your guests can stay, that’s fantastic. Clear out the closet and dresser drawers in it. If you don’t have any extra space, consider providing them with an additional stool on which to prop their luggage so that they don’t have to bend over.

Leave Out Extra Towels and Washcloths

Leave towels and washcloths visible for guests to prevent them from entering the shower without having grabbed one. If your guests spill water on the bathroom floor, they can easily clean it up with an extra towel or cloth, as well.

Hopefully, you learned something from this list. It can be stressful to have someone in your personal space. But these tips to prepare your home for overnight guests will help ease some of the anxiety that comes with this time of year.
