Micha Seal – Influential Female Leader in the Greater Tampa Bay Area

With 291 nominations, 51 remarkable women in the Tampa community became finalists in the 2023 Tampa Bay Business Women Awards Program earlier this year. Amongst those women is Micha Seal, the influential CEO and President of Watermelon Swim. Every year, TBBW honors female leaders in Tampa Bay who are moral exemplars – women who show passion in their leadership roles for the next generation of female leaders. On April 21st, a panel of judges will select one of the fifty-one finalists as the 2023 Business Woman of the year. The judging panel for this year’s award program will include Pam Iorio, former Mayor of Tampa, and former CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters America; Danny Persaud, chief executive officer of MidFlorida Armored, Ed Ellsasser, CEO of PrimeGroup Insurance; and Robert Hessel, CEO of Source 1 Solutions.

Micha Seal is the CEO and President of Watermelon Swim, a year-round, indoor, learn-to-swim business that teaches swimming, water safety, and survival for all ages and abilities. Instructors and staff of the local business are enthusiastic and have multiple certifications, such as CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety Instructor. Their mission is to grow a community full of safer swimmers and reduce the risks while increasing confidence in and around water. Watermelon Swim was previously awarded the Tampa Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award in 2019.

In August 2021, Micha Seal took the leap of faith and underwent a company rebrand, pivoting away from a strong brand with name recognition in the Tampa Bay area. Micha states, “Rebranding and venturing out on my own has been my most challenging and rewarding professional moment.” At present, Watermelon Swim has four operating facilities in Lutz, Wesley Chapel, South Tampa, and Riverview, Florida – and has two additional locations in the works.

Undoubtedly, Micha is an individual who is leading the way for the next generation. She focuses on evolving successful leaders within her organization with leadership training while providing professional coaching and mentoring. In fact, Watermelon Swim has an internal manager in training program to provide professional development and growth opportunities. Step into any of the Watermelon Swim locations, and within just a few minutes, you will feel a deep sense of community, which stems from solid ownership.
