I ignored my gut and it hurt my kid

I can't recall a single time in my life where I looked back and said, "Gee, I wish I hadn't gone with my gut on that on!". Seriously, it's never happened. And this is the thought I come back to over and over every time I ignore my instinct and something bad happens. It's part of my personality type. A key of my personality is I am intuitive but I also over analyze and over think and generally talk my self out of going with my instincts. I know this so it's frustrating that when I got a bad vibe from my child's teacher at her open house I again ignored it. My gut was telling me that something was off. I couldn't place it or explain it but I knew something was not right, like womans teaching

How Music Helps Literacy

While music is widely seen as a hobby, parents and educators are beginning to see the link between music and developing literacy skills. According to Luther College, “Literacy is larger than just reading and writing, and it also includes listening, speaking, and social skills that are relevant to communication.” Here’s how incorporating music into your child’s life can better improve the many facets of their literacy. Music often helps one’s focus and memory, as it is necessary to know the order and notes when playing any given song. It can even lend a helping hand to a child’s reading and problem solving abilities in the form of sheet music. Additionally, music encourages fast thinking and

READ TO CHILDREN

Why should you be reading to children? You’re a busy person and they have TV, videos, CD’s, DVD’s. These things have professional storytellers, animation, music. But they don’t have YOU. You sharing. You listening and responding as the child looks at the pictures and comments on the stories. Reading to children creates a bond. You cuddle up in an easy chair or on the bed at bedtime. You enjoy each other’s company while you explore new worlds. Reading boosts a child’s imagination. Children play out the stories in their heads. They are picturing, imagining, creating. And you share those moments with them. Reading encourages a child to act, to do. Just as they see a story in their mind

Bad Habits to Drop to Appear More Youthful and Healthy

Do less and get more? That’s how it often goes in the quest to look healthier and more youthful. However, that advice flies in the face of the influx of companies designed solely to make you feel bad about yourself (and buy more cosmetics, supplements, and other alleged wonder products). While aging is a natural part of life, there’s no reason you can’t look healthy at any stage—and in some cases, more youthful. Sometimes it’s what you don’t do that makes all the difference. Here are a few bad habits to quit in order to look and feel younger, healthier, and happier: 1. Stop washing your face more than once a day. There’s no reason to wash your face multiple times per day, unless you have a s

LET US BE KIND

The Most Important Work You Will Ever Do Will Be Within The Walls Of Your Own HOME – Harold B Lee After an exciting week of creating and preparing to proudly present Fab Habbin at my first local market, I used Sunday and the beginning of the week to unplug. I put down my phone, my paint brush, took a break from any posting, writing, marketing, and I took refuge. I did some re-organizing, some cleaning, and some of the other mundane tasks that come with a house and having a family, but I also took some time to read, to reflect, and to catch up on my most important work— the four very special human beings I live with. That outlet stayed unplug, partially due to the kiddos being out of school
